This is an intervention summary from the MSD for employment (MSD4E) landscape assessment which was undertaken by the MSD4E Community of Practice and funded by the ILO, Mercy Corps and Swisscontact. It is based on self-reported information from individual MSD programmes, reviewed and compiled in a common structure to enable learning across the field of MSD4E.

M-SAWA contributed to Kenya’s economic growth and job creation by improving the business, environmental and gender performance of SMEs and small entrepreneurs working in agriculture, construction and extractives in 20 counties along the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) and Northern corridors.

M-SAWA created and sustained 14,000+ decent work opportunities through boosting SME growth and profitability. A unique aspect in this work was the combination of MEDA investment funds alongside technical assistance to enhance access to finance for SMEs.
