This is an intervention summary from the MSD for employment (MSD4E) landscape assessment which was undertaken by the MSD4E Community of Practice and funded by the ILO, Mercy Corps and Swisscontact. It is based on self-reported information from individual MSD programmes, reviewed and compiled in a common structure to enable learning across the field of MSD4E.
This intervention is a partnership with a mining company, Sibanye-Stillwater, to build the capacity of the mine's current and pipeline subcontractors (SMMEs) through a business development services (BDS) provider, Property Point.
The project will provide technical support and catalytic funds to Property Point to develop decent work-focused BDS services, including practical tools and approaches on how to improve working conditions for young women and men. This should ultimately improve labour productivity for the small enterprises operating as subcontractors.
