This is an intervention summary from the MSD for employment (MSD4E) landscape assessment which was undertaken by the MSD4E Community of Practice and funded by the ILO, Mercy Corps and Swisscontact. It is based on self-reported information from individual MSD programmes, reviewed and compiled in a common structure to enable learning across the field of MSD4E.

MarketMakers supported service sector firms in addressing skill mismatches through corporate training solutions and non-formal education (nFE).

Initially, the intervention focused on testing innovative nFE options primarily through the 'company-academy' setup wherein private firms (experts in their domains, not education) established nFE programmes. Later, MarketMakers aimed to elevate the importance of nFE in Bosnia and Herzegovina by engaging key stakeholders to boost awareness about the merits of nFE and continuous learning.

Project partners launched a central nFE information hub (NOD.ba) and shaped the public discourse on skill gaps, education choices and reskilling. This collaborative network and NOD.ba provide nFE suppliers with insights, resources (e.g. inclusion guidelines for People with Disabilities), and stimulated the growth of company academies by showcasing successful models. A cluster approach involving nFE stakeholders fosters awareness and elevates the profile of nFE on both the user and provider sides.
