This is an intervention summary from the MSD for employment (MSD4E) landscape assessment which was undertaken by the MSD4E Community of Practice and funded by the ILO, Mercy Corps and Swisscontact. It is based on self-reported information from individual MSD programmes, reviewed and compiled in a common structure to enable learning across the field of MSD4E.
Vocational pedagogy plays an important role in the delivery of effective vocational skills. However, in Ethiopia's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector this aspect is often neglected leading to a shortfall in pedagogical expertise among TVET trainers. This in turn affects their ability to offer adequate training to students and so the preparedness of these students for employment is compromised.
The intervention aims to improve the quality of TVET service delivery and boost the employability of TVET graduates by focusing on the improvement of vocational and pedagogical skills.
