The Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness (CASA) programme supports small and medium-sized agribusinesses with smallholder supply chains to grow and attract investment for high development impact.
This review examines the integration of digital technologies into the CASA programme. Initially not part of the programme's design, digitalisation was adopted in response to the needs of agribusiness partners.
The review evaluates 14 digitalisation activities involving 12 partner businesses, including nine agribusinesses and three mobile-based agriculture Value Added Service (agri-VAS) companies.
Key areas of focus include improving supply chain management, market linkages, financial access, and providing digital advisory and training services.
The document discusses the benefits and challenges encountered, offering lessons learned and recommendations for future digital transformation efforts in the agri-food sector.
