These guidelines aim to provide practical guidance on the deal making process for engaging with a private sector partner, including the tools and confidence to facilitate win-win negotiations.
It identifies four basic stages of deal making:
- identification and assessment of potential partners
- framing and making an initial collaboration pitch
- agreeing on the business model and the broad strategy
- negotiations around the details of the partnership, including the detailed activity plan and budget
The guidelines, developed by the PRISMA programme, build on the knowledge of a number of the large M4P programmes, as well the practical experience and perspectives of their senior management, M4P advisers, and technical team.
