The Intervention library profiles MSD4E interventions from around the world, providing insights on current practices and offering the chance for those active in the space to connect with one another.
It features over 50 intervention summaries covering job creation, job matching, skills development, job quality and a range of related themes. The interventions were identified and written up as part of the MSD4E Landscape Assessment.
Use the filters to identify interventions based on:
- Intended employment outcome
- Main theme
- Sector
- Region
- Target group characteristics
This approach to structuring the library follows the guidance laid out in the Rough Guide to the MSD approach for youth employment in sub-Saharan Africa.
The 'main theme' filter allows you to identify interventions with similar entry points across the labour market and in interconnected market systems. This includes both the demand side (wage and self-employment) and supporting functions such as job matching and skills development.

The 'intended employment outcome' filter helps to identify interventions in job creation, access to work or job quality. Fundamental differences in strategies for different objectives emerged as an important finding of the MSD4E landscape study.
Each intervention summary provides an overview of the systemic constraints addressed, details of partnerships and intended behaviour changes, key results and lessons learned. Project documents, results chains and contact details for project representatives are included where available.
The Intervention Library is open to new submissions. If you would like to submit an intervention, please contact mike.klassen@beamexchange.org
The MSD4E Intervention Library was compiled by the MSD4E Community of Practice and funded by the ILO, Mercy Corps and Swisscontact.
