The FORESITE programme (2019 to 2023) aimed to strengthen community resilience, enhance food security and reduce forced displacement in South Sudan. Implemented across Lakes, Warrap, and Western Bahr el Ghazal states, it targeted 21,826 beneficiaries.
Key outcomes included empowering women and youth, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and addressing conflict through peace committees and youth-led initiatives.
Despite challenges such as COVID-19, flooding, and economic instability, it reduced food insecurity (51.9% to 30.4%) and improved social cohesion (60.2% to 80.2%).
Gender transformative approaches, vocational training, and Savings for Transformation (S4T) groups boosted livelihoods. Innovative methods such as peace sports and agro-input market links further contributed to community stability and self-reliance.
