The FORESITE programme (2019 to 2023) aimed to strengthen community resilience, enhance food security and reduce forced displacement in South Sudan. Implemented across Lakes, Warrap, and Western Bahr el Ghazal states, it targeted 21,826 beneficiaries.

This mid-term evaluation report assesses the performance, relevance, efficiency and sustainability of the FORESITE programme.

It highlights key progress, including a significant reduction in food insecurity, improved agricultural yields, and enhanced social cohesion. The programme achieved notable success in empowering women and youth, improving climate adaptation strategies, and reducing gender inequality.

Challenges such as conflict, inflation and flooding were mitigated through targeted interventions such as capacity building, Savings for Transformation (S4T) groups, and peacebuilding initiatives.

Recommendations focus on long-term resilience-building strategies, community-based conflict resolution, and enhancing sustainability through local capacity building and economic stabilisation measures.
