The FORESITE programme (2019 to 2023) aimed to strengthen community resilience, enhance food security and reduce forced displacement in South Sudan. Implemented across Lakes, Warrap, and Western Bahr el Ghazal states, it targeted 21,826 beneficiaries.

This report highlights of FORESITE’s success in empowering communities and fostering sustainable development.

The programme reduced food insecurity from 51.9 per cent to 30.4 per cent, improved social cohesion by 20 per cent, and increased household incomes, especially for women and youth.

Key initiatives included:

  • Savings for Transformation (S4T) groups
  • vocational training
  • climate-smart agriculture
  • peacebuilding efforts such as youth-led peace clubs and committees

Gender-focused interventions enhanced women’s roles in decision-making and economic activities. Challenges such as floods and inflation were mitigated through diversification strategies.
