Every two to three years, BEAM conducts a review of the results emerging from programmes that use the MSD approach. The review examines their impacts on businesses, incomes and the livelihoods of people living in poverty. The 2024 review also covers a range of cross-cutting themes, including gender & social inclusion, decent work & employment, climate & environment, and finance & investment.

The 2024 Evidence Review analysed 72 new documents from the BEAM Evidence Map. They included impact evaluations, reports, evidence briefs and case studies.

In this webinar, author Tom Hilton presented key findings highlighting how long-running MSD programmes are driving significant global poverty reduction, how ex-post evaluations are confirming long-term success and growth, and the growing need for greater transparency regarding MSD failures.

Ajla Vilogorac responded to the report's findings by addressing the challenges of assessing Value for Money, how tracking inclusion in MSD needs more than data, and how applying MSD in non-agricultural sectors may require new indicators and metrics.

Ben Fowler shared insights on the importance of conducting ex-post evaluations and highlighted findings from USAID’s studies conducted 3+ years after programme completion.
